John Ciannamea
Mr. Ciannamea has
been investing in and working with early-stage companies
for approximately 20 years.
He co-founded and is a Senior Managing Director of ACF and
AVF II. In this capacity, he is responsible for
performing due diligence, making decisions on portfolio
company investments and contributing to corporate
development issues.
Additionally, he has served as the President and CEO of
the North Carolina Technological Development Authority ("TDA"),
which administers programs and projects that foster
business formation and incubation, encourage
entrepreneurship, increase capital formation, and promote
commercialization of technological innovations. Mr.
Ciannamea directed the TDA's venture capital program that
provides financing to emerging companies throughout North
Carolina.
Prior to joining the TDA, Mr. Ciannamea managed a venture
fund for the New York State Science and Technology
Foundation. During his 10 years at the New York State
Science and Technology Fund, Mr. Ciannamea was involved in
approximately 50 venture capital investments in a variety
of technology areas that included energy, semiconductor
equipment, biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, robotics,
software, advanced materials, electronic instruments,
telecommunications, optics, computer hardware, lasers, and
electronics.
Mr. Ciannamea received B.S. and M.S. degrees from
Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and an M.B.A. from
Virginia Commonwealth University. He currently
serves on the boards of directors of several early stage companies.
